The McLarty Centre is located on Bruce Road 6/Side Road 20 in Huron Kinloss. It is open to the public to enjoy the great outdoors!
In 2013, Dr. McLarty and family donated fourteen acres of Pine River Flats from their farm to the Pine River Watershed Initiative Network for the creation of the McLarty Environmental Study Area. This area is designed for our community to learn about the Pine River; wetland creation; and the education of the local wildlife and plants that this area supports. It remains the desire of the McLarty’s to preserve this piece of the river flats for generations to come.
This area is designed for our community to learn about the Pine River; wetland creation and the education of the local wildlife and plants that this area supports. PRWIN has installed a trail system throughout the area, created two wetland ponds, planted memorial trees, an osprey nest and planted countless tree seedlings. There is a new sun shelter and picnic tables at the education centre. Community groups have enjoyed outdoor classroom experiences and exploring in nature at the McLarty location. We are happy to take part in the Ripley Huron Fall Fair by having a vendor table at the exhibit hall. We look forward to connecting with our community! Make sure to stop by and enter your name in a raffle for a FREE Maple Tree.
